Mojave Cross Dedication for The American Legion

Shot the re-dedication of the Mojave cross in Cima, CA on Veteran's Day. For the last 13 years there has been a battle between the ACLU and Veterans and religious organizations over displaying a cross on Federal lands in the Mojave National Preserve. It violates Separation of church and state to some and is an affront to military vets who died in wars as well as an assault on Christianity to others. It has all the right elements for a juicy battle. The one barrier seems to be that the cross is about 60 miles from civilization.
So, over the years this cross has literally been through Hell and back from being vandalized, stolen, graffiti'd on, and been through battles in the courts. Finally, after over a decade of litigation, the VFW and American Legion raised some money and was able to purchase the land where the cross stands. Case closed.
