13 MEU Homecoming(For Getty)

Shot a homecoming for Marines from the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit coming home from an 8 Month deployment. Normally when I shoot these, there is a wide range of emotions from sadness to relief to sheer joy to awkwardness, when they are coming home from combat related missions. This time, it was a scheduled Western Pacific deployment, meaning they got to sail to some cool spots such as Australia, Hawaii, Bahrain, Philippines and other places with nice clear, warm water. This day, it was all smiles and the occasional awkwardness of a child who had never met their parent or seen them in months. It was also a bit different in that they arrived via LCU's which ferried them from the USS Boxer to shore.
Welcome home 13th!

Great photos! Really like that you were able to capture the emotion in the moment.
