TKF

A lesson to any photogs just starting out. Always keep your eyes open when heading to a shoot where you need a portrait location. I was commissioned by Ode Magazine to photograph Azim Khamisa and Ples Felix. 13 Years ago Ples's grandson shot Khamisa's son Tariq during a gang initiation. Since then the two have banded together and committed their lives to helping youth stay out of these gangs. As I was driving to the school where they were speaking, I spotted this alleyway with a cool mural with graffiti and tagging all over it. I thought it might give the shot an edgy, inner-city, vibe. In fact, a few gang members walked by as I was shooting them. It was a bit hairy but we didn't seem to pose a threat.
